Heartfelt Health Fair

What a great Health Fair last Saturday at the From the Heart Church.  The free dental care made me smile, as it included not just a checkup, but fillings, extractions and more. And, did you see that the Lions Club was there with optometrists providing free eye exams and glasses?  And, the Western University students and doctors were sweet to check our glucose and cholesterol. Other students gave it to us straight with their chiropractic adjustments  or massage therapy. Many stuck around for acupuncture treatments while others escaped into a virtual reality wearing cool reflective electric sunglasses.

Now, I hung out with the dozens of helpful vendors and organizations providing information and opportunities to improve our lives. My table sported flyers for Strengthening Families classes and postcards with information about Traffick Free Pomona and efforts to end human trafficking in our community and the world. Of course, the cookies and suckers on my table brought sweet visitors to my table. I was fortunate to be safely nestled between friendly Probation and DPSS.

The dedication, hard-work and loving attitude of the many volunteers were impressive and very much appreciated, along with the delicious breakfast ans lunch provided to the vendors and volunteers. The fair was so well organized with virtually no backups or mixups that I noted.  Here's a special shout-out to my new friend Ossie! Thanks for keeping me company and being such a wonderful humble helper.

Stay Healthy My Friends!

Meet with City Heads, Congratulations, Health Fair Saturday

Monday night was the opportunity for the candidates to meet with the heads of city departments, police and fire.  Maybe half the candidates actually showed up, but 90% of the Department heads showed up.  I was thrilled to see their dedication and concern for their adopted city, Pomona.  City Manager, Linda Lowry, ran the informal meeting, and both the Police Chief and Fire Chief gave encouraging reports.

By the way, congratulations to our Police Explorer Post 160 for garnering 2nd place out of a field of 22 at the recent X-games where their investigative skills really shone through. Check out the Nixle report if you missed it: https://local.nixle.com/alert/5252480/

This weekend I heading over to the Pomona Moose Lodge for a $5 Barbecue and maybe some games or Wii bowling.  Saturday, you'll find me at the From the Heart Ministries Huge Health Fair, 655 N Mills Ave.  If you need some checkups, this might be a good place to get checked out for free!

Pomona city council here I come!

So, I "pulled" papers today to run for Pomona City Council for district 3. Word travels fast. It is 11pm and people are still contacting me offering their support. Thank you all!!!

I thought about erasing my thoughts from the school board race, but after re-reading the blogs I realized my vision for a great Pomona hasn't changed. And, it is fun to see how many of my ideas were implemented.

Check out my next post when I will share some ideas for the city and my vision for our community.  Until then,  stay positive, love your family and meet your neighbors.

4 Pomona,
